🐪 Camel – The Ship of the Desert & Heart of Jaisalmer’s History
In the golden sands of Jaisalmer, the camel was once the most valuable companion of desert life. Until the mid-1990s, camels played a central role in the agriculture and transportation systems across the desert regions of western Rajasthan.
They were used to plough fields, pull water from deep wells, and carry water bags back to homes.
Camel carts were the main mode of transporting goods and people across the vast desert.
Even border patrolling and camel postmen relied on these sturdy animals.

🌍 Beginning of Tourism – Camels as Cultural Icons
With the rise of tourism in Jaisalmer, the camel became the symbol of desert adventure.
In the early days, Jaisalmer had poor road infrastructure, and no vehicles could reach many desert and heritage sites.
The only way to explore sand dunes, monuments, and village life was by camel safari.

👣 Our Legacy of Camel Safaris
I learned to organize camel safaris and plan routes from my father, a respected camel caravan organizer.
Over the years, I have led countless camel safaris, including month-long expeditions deep into the Thar Desert.
The most popular safari is the 4-day, 3-night journey, where:
Tourists reach Sam Sand Dunes by the 2nd night
Visit desert lakes, village settlements, water ponds
Experience tribal (gypsy) life, local flora & fauna
Enjoy nights under the stars, sleeping on the sand, with a natural tree as a toilet!
Meals are cooked using wood, collected by camel men and guests, on traditional stone stoves – creating unforgettable desert flavors.
At night, lying under the star-studded sky, tourists talk to the moon and admire the Milky Way, surrounded by silence and the mystique of the desert.
